How To Measure
Step 1 – Measure the Structural Opening Width
Measure the width of the opening in three places: at the top, middle, and bottom. Record the smallest of the three measurements, as this is the critical size your door must fit within.
Step 2 – Measure the Structural Opening Height
Measure the height from the finished floor level to the underside of the lintel in three places: left, centre, and right. Again, use the smallest measurement to ensure the door will fit without obstruction.
Step 3 – Check for Squareness
Measure diagonally from corner to corner in both directions. If the measurements are the same, the opening is square. If not, note the difference, as this may affect installation tolerances.
Step 4 – Allow for the Cill
The door comes with a 180mm cill. Allow for your floor finishes and drainage so the door sits at the right level.
Step 5 – Allow for Installation Tolerances
Typically, a small fitting tolerance (usually around 10mm in width and height) is allowed for installation and adjustment. Your final order size should be the structural opening minus the recommended fitting clearance.
Step 6 – Opening Type
The 6 pane has one opening type, 4 Centre Panels Slide (viewed from outside): the four centre panels slide apart and the two outer panels stay fixed.
Step 7 – Double Check All Measurements
Re-measure everything before ordering. Accurate measurements are essential to ensure your Korniche sliding door is manufactured to fit perfectly and installs smoothly.
FAQs
Please read our FAQs page to find out more.
Which panels slide?
Viewed from outside, the four centre panels slide and the two outer panels are fixed. The middle pair slide apart and stack behind the next panels, which then slide behind the fixed outer panels, so the door opens in the centre to a wide clear gap.
Every 6 pane door is supplied in kit form for assembly on site. If you need a different layout, get a bespoke quote.
What size should I order?
The sizes shown are the overall frame size of the door. Measure your structural opening and take off a fitting tolerance (usually around 10mm in width and height). See the How To Measure tab for the full steps. If your opening falls between sizes, ask for a bespoke quote.
What is SpeedBead and why does it matter?
SpeedBead is Korniche's patented clip-in glazing bead. It lets the glass units be fitted in seconds without a wedge gasket, and the seals sit almost hidden in the frame for slimmer sightlines. The beads can also be removed and refitted without damaging the paint finish.
How secure is the sliding door?
It is PAS 24 tested as standard, with dual shootbolt locking points and fibre-reinforced guides. The anti-backdrive shootbolt handle stops the door being forced open from outside, even when it isn't locked. Specify laminated glass for Document Q compliance.
Can I have trickle vents?
Yes. Korniche trickle vents fit through the top of the door frame, so only a slim extension piece is needed for the plaster line. Trickle vents aren't included in the prices shown, so please ask for a quote.
How is the door delivered?
The door arrives pre-assembled and ready to glaze, in protective packaging. Large glass units (over 1.2m wide) come on a crane-equipped vehicle and are unloaded at the kerbside, so you'll need around 3m of clear space around the vehicle and a way to move the glass to a safe place.
Can I get other colours, triple glazing or bigger sizes?
Yes. The Cortizo 4700 comes in over 100 RAL colours (including dual colour), with triple glazing, 2, 3 and 4 pane layouts and other sizes. Get a bespoke quote and we'll price it for you.
